Hi everybody!

I'm thinking about buying a pair of Denon D2000, since I've heard many good things about it. I'm just wondering how does it sound with rock/metal? I'm using SR80 and SR225 right now, I'm loving them but I think it's time to make a change.

I mostly listen to progresssive rock/metal such as Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Pink Floyd, Riverside, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree,.... Grado's cans are a little too bright and colored for me. I need a balanced can with more soundstage and "atmosphere" ,so is D2000 a good fit for me? Is it better than SR225? How does D2000 compare with MS2i?

Yes, very good.

However I have nothing to compared them to. I don't think you will be disappointed though, I think they're excellent for metal.

How is their soundstage?
The Grados are very good, but I'm thinking of also getting a DT880/250 for better soundstage and atmosphere

I think the Denon 5000, which is said to be similar to the D2000, is quite good for rock and metal. The bass presence helps to thicken up the the riffs and the drums sounds really good.
