Since I listen to headphones (usually my Senn HD280pro's) at fairly low levels (driven by ipod at a bit over 1/4 volume) is it really neccesary to get an amp. If I had some 300ohm cans then maybe, but will an amp actually sound much better. I'm looking into the Micro, any other suggestions for that price.

I had a headroom little for a few days then sent it back because I did't really think it sounded $275 better. Yes it was clearer but it also made the right driver about twice as loud as the left, and for that price no way!

My source ranges from a new powerbook with the newest stuff 2 months ago. (anyone know if tiger makes anything sound better they say something on their website about 64 bit audio, but I'm not sure).

Other sources old sony cd player (1996) or a older Harmon Kardon (1999)

Thanks in advance
