Is an aftermarket cord really needed for the HD650?

Actually it's not up to me -- I've never taken part in the «microphony» discussion and even now haven't taken a stand. But I have no problem to accept a broader use of the term and don't perceive it as wrong at all.

How else would you name the issue? To me «microphonic» is quite adequate. As to «established»: it really is here at Head-Fi since quite some time. And after all, think of language as a continuously evolving communication medium which traditionally has ever implemented multiple and transformed senses with certain terms.

I just wanted a credited reference establishing the use was accurate. :-)

I agree with you, for the most part.

Then you have each individual's own taste in how the music should sound, highlighted by the fact that some like mega-bass, other mega-treble, others something in between, others pure natural unchanged music...see what I mean?

So while these threads are fun and interesting, they don't accomplish more than letting people know how each person perceived the sound of a given cable on their particular system. It can actually say little about the cable other than that, unless every single person thought that a particular cable sucked for the exact same reason..

Ramble over...

Amen, for the first time in that thread, and probably in long time, I agree with someone 100%.....
As all we hear differently, what's the point in making all the people preffer this or that cable over the other, let them decide or themselves, even if they may need one....

A lot of the HeadFi terminology is "created" by the members and often understood by the members. Dictionary meanings dont really fit in here...I mean...who would find "groovalizer" in the dictionary...

Words mean what we "think" they mean. Credit references are for lawyers to use when something screws up
