Hey there,

Lately I've been doing most of my music listening on the go so after a bit of research on suitable cans I ordered a set of Beyerdynamic dt250-80s. They're great headphones with excellent isolation but don't go very loud when driven by my wimpy portable (2001 Panasonic SL-CT780).
Is a pocket headphone amp the answer? Any thoughts or recommendations?
Anybody out there selling "Altoid amps"?

Thanks much

Excellent choice in headphone, I bought one as well.

First I'd say try to get a hold of a Panasonic SL-CT570. As for the amp, I recommend you private message tangent about one of his equally affordable META42s. You will need what's called a mini-mini cable to hook up the portable cd player to the amp. Just do a search on it, a whole bunch of good threads should pop up.

What does the SL-CT570 have over the SL-CT780?

Actually pretty much nothing, if you decide to get the pocket amp.. it does have a better headphone amp then the ct780 but if you are using the lineout who cares.. oh and it doesn't have that plasticy cheap feel of the 780.

JMT sells pocket amps and so does tangent, just private message one of them.

Biggie.
