I bought a pearstone 4 pin xlr power cable to use as a headphone extension cable.

I just received and hooked up, problem: no sound.

Is there something fundamentally different about a "power cable" that makes it unsuitable as a headphone cable?

Here's what I bought:

As long as it's wired up pin for pin, it should work ok. Do you have any means of testing which pins are used? Could be it's doubling up on the pins, i.e. using two pins of the XLR for positive and two pins for ground rather than using all four individually.

Hey Steve,
Thanks for your note.
I don't have any gear to test the leads but my suspicion is exactly what you suggested; they must be bridging the lines.
I'm going to call tech support tomorrow, but the cable clearly doesn't work and I'm worried about shorting out the amp as well.
So much for finding a cheap 4 pin extension cable.

Check with Blue Jeans Cable and see what they'd charge to make you one. Some Canare 4S6 would be a good choice for the cable.

Good luck!
