I think not. Especially when you can get a newer iPod Classic 120GB at the same price.

I purchased a like new 5gen 30g off ebay for $100 this thing is flawless, it came in the original wrapping, box, headphones and and everything were still in an unopened sealed bag. yes i think 250 it to much.

yah man, $250 for that is def. overpriced especially when you could get a newer one for the same price. also for 50-100 more you can get the ipod touch which supposedly has better SQ. or so i've heard

Please Note -- The iMod is only offered for the 4th Generation and 5th/5.5 Generation iPods, as they contain the high-quality internal Wolfson dac chip that makes doing the iMod worthwhile.

We DO NOT and WILL NOT modify any of the other iPods, including the new 6th Generation iPod Classic, iPhone, iPod Touch, or any of the Nanos. bought an 80gig 5.5 for 210.00

honestly, if having something in new condition is that important, then I would pay the premium and get it.

Else, IMO its better to just buy a used ipod, in ok condition for maybe $50-$100 and just buy a new battery, faceplate, backplate and screen for around $50.

I want to avoid the iPod Classic because (from http://homepage.mac.com/marc.heijlig...rements.html):

Quote:

From these measurements it is obvious that the new audio circuit of the iPod Classic is badly engineered compared to the iPod Video:
- Treble has a slight uplift.
- The group delay is not linear over the frequency range.
- There is significant intermodulation distortion with a 22.1kHz component.

Superiority of the wolfson dac.

iMod'ability.

Unless you're a collector, brand new sealed out of production items really aren't that special once you start using them. I've paid huge premiums for new-old-stock before, but they were for a collection and have stayed unopened.

In six months are you going to care that it's brand new, when a new battery or faceplate would have achieved the same effect?

Indeed. I got a used 30gb video for free a paid 60 bucks at the Apple store for a "battery replacement" unit which is brand new. So I would definitely say $250 is too much.
