Just grabbed one of these on Ebay, still unopened in original retail packaging. Is $100 a good deal? I plan on using it with Koss Portapros, and probably V700's (don't laugh-- those are for hip-hop, etc.)

what's everyone's opinions on the CT790?

thanks!

I believe they retail for $169.00, so I think you got a good deal

You can read my review thread of the U.S. version of the Panasonic SL-CT790 portable CD player here.

The Japanese/Asian version of the SL-CT790 has a line/optical-out and a 12-second uncompressed anti-skip option that is used in conjunction with the analog line-out portion of the line/optical-out.

kin3tix, I haven't. As I said, mine has no line-out at all. And the line-out info that I got is hearsay - and the line-out quality is still unknown.

Well, I plan on keeping it extremely simple. Either Portapros or Sportapros (possibly EX70's or 888's if I want to cram stuff into a smaller space) and the CT790-- that's it. No amp or anything. This will be for listening to while at the office or library (so I'm leaning towards the buds since the Koss's are terrible for isolation).

So no line out won't be a problem for me. I'm assuming the one I'm getting is a US version-- nothing in the auction was stated otherwise. No line out is fine, but if it had it, that would leave me more options later for using an amp.
