I wouldn't buy one from a vending machine. Do they give change? I'd be scared buying a 30Gb or 60Gb from a vending machine. I'd hate to fall to the bottom and have a dead hard drive.

Sometimes in normal drinks machines the bottle gets stuck and then someone else gets it a couple of hours later. I wonder if this would happen with iPods, would you take an iPod which someone else was meant to have?

There are vending machines selling DVD's in theaters too.

This is a really good point:
What if you needed to return the iPod? The first thing you'd be asked is probably which machine you purchased it from, requiring you to get some info off of the machine, which just won't happen without a plane ticket.

I once purchased a pair of expensive Johnston Murphy Shoes in Newark Airport because they were on sale and there was no sales tax. They developed a defect and I was able to return them to another store.

I just don't think merchandise returns to a vending machine manufacturer will be easy and you'd pay a restock fee at the Apple Store. I know the folks at InMotion have thought this through with in airport video rentals, since video rentals can be had and returned at different airports. Buying CDs, movies and iPod accessories are a great idea, though in a machine.
