hi, i just want to get some info and compare these two quality wise, yes i know one is a cd and the other is an actual hard drive but what i want to know is which unit has better sound quality? i have the ipod and it is lacking in bass. i also listen to the ipod with the ex70sl without the tape mod, and so i was thinking of getting the slimx. thanks.

I have the SlimX IMP-400 and the Sony EX-70 and I do think there is a slight lack of bass. The player does have equaliser settings you can fiddle around with, if that tickles your fancy.

Oh, don't get the SlimX. Just get the Sennheiser HD212 and use it with your iPod.

I have the HD202 and get rich bass with my iPod. I am told that the HD212 is even richer. I am waiting for one to arrive.

To give you an idea, even MP3s encoded at 128K CBR with a Fraunhoffer encoder sound rich with these headphones.
