Ipod touch 7th gen output impedance

No don’t use a iPod touch but seems like most of them have a 5 ohm output impedance but could only find that for a 6th gen so don’t know but seems like the other versions were the same.

Yea, I would expect of an Apple portable device's headphone jack output impedance to be under 10-Ohm, like around 5-Ohms, give or take.
If Apple was smart, under 5-Ohms.

Interesting, would you mind sharing where you found this? I've read in a couple places that the output impedance of the 6th gen was something like 1.7ohms for the ipod touch.

I would guess around 1.5 ohms based on how it sounds with CA Andromeda IEM

I see in your signature that you use the Ipod touch 7th and the Andromedas, do you like this pairing? Is there any hiss?

The reason I ask is I am looking for a portable player with minimal hiss for my Campfire Orions, which have a similar impedance to the Andromedas. I'm attracted to the ipod for it's tried and true user interface. Thank you!

I like this pairing a lot. It brings all the good things about the Andromeda IMO. Zero hiss whatsoever with the Andromeda. I've never heard any IEM I've demoed with the iPod Touch 7 that hissed BTW

That is excellent news to me! I'm more concerned with the actual sound than the impedance, so this makes me confident enough to give it a shot. Thank you for your help!

Sorry but you can tell 1.5 ohm output impedance from say .73 and 1.74 or 3.91 ? Damn your good.

You got me there. I just had a few sips while replying lol. It sounds almost exactly the same as the iPod Touch 6G which has a measured 1.74 ohm OI. It's known that CA Andromeda changes its sound signature based on the DAPs OI

What about the output power?
