Here's a good game that's available right now.

Fastlane street racing...

And my initial impressions on listening to music came out with one word... Wow... This completely render my portable setup (Classic 160gb and Predator amp) useless, the sound quality is so much better it's not even funny... As mentioned here the soundstage does sound bigger too. I did A/B a few songs using both players and there's no doubt in my mind - the Touch sound better, and not only marginally (using my ATH-ES7 for the test).

Now I wonder how it would sound with a iPhone LOD (since my TurboDock doesn't work with it) connected thru the Predator.. :O

No need to wonder. It sounds great. I got my LOD cable for the Touch from LiL' Knight. Excellent.

We may see games hit PSP quality/game play.

Graphics-wise, I agree...

...I just don't think the controls will work well enough to justify a $20 price tag.

The Ipod touch is a bit like having a Wii in your pocket ( boy that sounds weird!)It can be a little difficult to control but well worth the effort learning to do so!

i fully concur here. as much as i love the touch as a music machine firstly, an internet game secondly and as my hobby thirdly - a gaming machine, it is not going to rival the ability of the psp no matter that the graphics are likely as good or better.

i have played so many games as we have to review them all the time at touchmyapps and some are great but... what is holding traditionally played games back is that this system is all acceleration and tough. it is like half a DS functionality (but much better touch controls) and part of a wii functionality (in this case, i think the functionality of the accerometer is better than the wii's motion sensor) but it is not the best setup.

if the controls were separated by another piece of hardware, it might be perfect, but for games to truly be there best, they need to be created with the express opinion of the developers that they must be treated completely differently from traditional consoles.

fast lane has great controls that work well with the accelerometer - so far, best i have seen of high speed racing games. its graphics are mediocre compared to asphalt and certainly to the upcoming need for speed, but we will see how need for speed can keep up for controls.

i am reviewing a newish game now, ExZeus, a classic arcade big robot shooter that is great but ... does not live up for controls as well as arcade, ps2 or even wii. it is great though: heaps of fun but just not perfect.

there are however so many great games hitting the shelves of the app store recently. zenbound, sentinel, 7cities, quest 3D - games will become great for this device, but they never may be able to rival great arcade games on other systems. i think the touch and iphone may be a more methodical gaming system standard. i like what i see for sure.

anyway, come by from time to time: loads of contests for free apps!

Great synergy right there :

I don't know what it is between the two, but I completely stopped using my iPod Classic -> Predator amp combo!

okay: today, one of the best rpg's i have ever played for a console of any type, in fact reaching into the great gameplay of PC rpg's like betrayal series and the elder scrolls series will be reviewed at touchmyapps.com. it is Quest. it is an older game ported from other mobile platforms such as winCE and palm but it is bloody amazing.

i cannot wait to finish the review so i can get back to playing!

I've had my eye on it for a while, I guess I'll have to plunk the 7 beans down. How are the controls?
