the second post..

i live in canada

i currently bought a creative muvo fm tx from futureshop.

i say the sound quality is so so compared to my old ifp-180t.

the tx fm is good but i have few problems with it.

when you skip to the next track, it takes a bit too long.

and the battery life is not good when you use custom eq.

so i would like to return it and get a shuffle when its realesed.

is this a good idea?

the thing i care about the most is the sound quality

i know the both use the sigmatel chips, but one can sound better you know?

i listen to the normal eq.

screen doesnt matter to me because ipod shuffle is so slim.

can anyone give me a comparison with the two models?

also stick the sony nw-e75 in it. which sounds the best out of all these three units?

p.s: iPOD shuffle is faster on skipping to a next track then the muvo tx fm right?

as to sound quality your right both use the same chip but some might say that the creative sounds a bit better. i dont know for sure but in the past creative has been consistantly better in SQ than the ipods. the shuffle doesnt even have an EQ so i dont see why your complaining about a sq that drains battery. turn it off if you want more life and keep it on if you want. with the shuffle you dont have the choice so the muvo wins there too. i dont know about skipping but neither are gapless so neither will be perfectly smooth. the shuffle is tiny but at a certain point it doesnt even matter. i saw a tx today and its really tiny too so there isnt much to complain about there either. both have the plug into USB as removable media. but to test out if you need a screen put a sticky note or electrical tape over your tx and try that out for a couple of weeks and see if you dont go insane. is that...no....what about that one....nope....oh mabey thats the song....nope thats not it....mabey...etc.

yeah thats true but ipod shuffle you cant do drag and drop

i wanna get a muvo micro but its $169 for 256mb in cdn.

its way expensive. i can get a tx fm for $139 for 256mb

and a shuffle for $129 for 512mb

Get the TX FM! believe me! it's much better. the 512Mb only costs $30 more (costs $129 on the creative website) and you get a better flash player with FM radio, voice recording, eq, lcd screen (you'll miss the screen) and the difference in size is almost none.

The TX Fm sounds better than the shuffle (plus you can use the eq to improve the sound)

I own a TX FM and have used the shuffle a lot and the TX FM is much better. 2 friends of mine both bought a shuffle while I bought the TX FM (radio is importante to me) and after about 2 weeks, both my friends returned the shuffle and bought the TX.

Where do you live and when did your friends buy their shuffles?

By the way, I don't know about the TX FM, but doomlordis just did a comparison with the Sony NW-E99 and he says the iPod shuffle sounds better:

It takes 2 seconds to go to the next track on the shuffle, so it's probably not any faster if you're going to the very next song. However if you're going to the 7th or 10th song, say, it's probably faster. If you hit the next song button a bunch of times in rapid succession it takes just 2 seconds to get to that song...the seconds don't add up.

I like my TX (non-FM version)... Sounds great through my KSC75 unamped.

IMHO the LCD screen is a must. Its only 512M, but still thats a lot of songs to sift through, without an LCD.
The custom graphic EQ is a very nice feature.

IMHO very useful features that are worth the extra $$$

Call me a skeptic, but I find this a little hard to believe. Where do you live and when did your friends buy their shuffles and how?

I believe you, but I don't believe xau.

First of all, he doesn't live in the US (according to his own words elsewhere on head-fi), so, though it may be POSSIBLE that two of his friends got their hands on the shuffle within a week of its release, I think it highly unlikely. Don't you?

At any rate, I'd like to hear xau's story. Which country does he live in and how did his friends get ahold of their shuffles and when?

Maybe you haven't heard about the scarcity of the shuffles. I am 100% sure they were NOT available to the general public in Singapore at that time (within one week of release). If your friend is in Singapore and got his within one week of its release (Jan. 11), he must have pulled some strings or had connections in the US.

At any rate, xau's friend must have jumped through some serious hoops to get their iPod shuffles. And if they did so, it'd be a little hard to believe they'd return them so quickly.

At any rate, maybe xau is confusing the iPod mini for the shuffle?

well, early releases do cost a premium price. some of the retailers do have connections to bring them in early.
