Okay, I heard on another forum that there is a hidden folder on the Shuffle, named 'playlists'. Has anyone here heard anything like that?
If it's true, then maybe there will be an update/upgrade to make the Shuffle support several playlists, which would make the missing display less of a problem.

I think there will be. Usually the iPod would turn off if you pressed the play button for more than a second. Seems like that would be a good way to switch between playlists. Not sure how this would go with the autofill method though.

It would be a bonus but I wouldn't count on it. The playlist folder may just exist as a result of the way that iTunes builds the database and file structure. While it's there the shuffle may have no way to access or do anything with it.
