ipod problem

My sister just received an 5g 30gig ipod video and sound does not come out of the left earbud. I know there is a thread about how the ipod may damage earphones but this problem seems different. When you pull the plug out of the ipod slightly both the left and right channels have sound coming out but if plugged all the way in the left side goes out. Has anyone experienced this? If so how did you go about fixing this problem? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

yes but same problem. Im guessing something is wrong with the headphone jack

Sounds exaclty like what happened to my sisters sandisk sansa. Although the problem turned out to be the headphones. Try several headphones?

Yes, my wife had the same problem with her mini(but on the right earphone).
I called them and filled out the online service form. They sent a shipping box in 2 days and I sent it back. They sent a replacement in less than a week.
No cost for anything.

The thing is that she got the ipod off the streets so im a little weary about sending the ipod to apple. Anyways, thanks for the help.
