Hey guys, i need a spot of help. I recently got my iPod (i really miss my x5..) and i have it set to auto-sync with my 17gb itunes library. well all is fine, it syncs up and i think, sweet! Well i added another CD today, so i hook up my iPod, and what does it do? Deletes everything on the iPod, and starts transferring some 4500+ songs back again! I tried again later, i think to myself, "this is just a freak accident thing". I add another CD to my itunes collection, and plug in the iPod. AGAIN, it deletes all the music off the iPod and starts transferring it ALL back again. Is it supposed to do this? I always figured it would just add the 12 freaking new songs to the iPod. Anyways, I'm really disappointed, this is the main reason i went iPod, i wanted to just plug it in, and my new music would sync right up and i could go.

Help me out guys, and thanks.

No, that's not normal. Could you tell us your sync settings in iTunes? You're not using a volume booster or any third party app to adjust volume/gain?

Ouch.. Yeah im using a volume booster, and mp3gain. When i volume boost after i get the music loaded on to the ipod, its making the music appear different to itunes, so its erasing it all? Damn, is that what the itunes fix is for? Im using eupod pro.

You are so smart blessingx

No really, but thanks. Yeah that's the only time I've heard of that happening before. Never used Eupod as I'm on OS X, but that's my guess. Didn't know there was a iTunes fix.

davidd, it's not the MP3gain on the iPod (very likely Jakets is during this before), but that the VolumeBoost on the iPod (only way) after.

Hope this helps:

To automatically update your iPod or iPod mini with all the songs in your library, first connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, choose Edit > Preferences and click the iPod tab. Click the Music tab and make sure "Automatically update all songs and playlists" is selected. Then make sure the "Only update checked songs" checkbox is deselected.
To automatically update your iPod or iPod mini with only certain songs, select the checkboxes next to the songs you want to transfer in the iTunes window. Then connect your iPod to your computer and when it appears in the Source list, choose Edit > Preferences and click the iPod tab. Click the Music tab and make sure "Automatically update all songs and playlists" is selected. Then select the "Only update checked songs" checkbox.
To automatically update your iPod or iPod mini with only selected playlists, first connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, choose Edit > Preferences and click the iPod tab. Click the Music tab and select "Automatically update selected playlists only," and then select the playlists you want to transfer.
To transfer songs manually from your iTunes library to your iPod or iPod mini, first connect your player to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, choose Edit > Preferences and click the iPod tab. Click the Music tab and select "Manually manage songs and playlists." Then drag songs from your library or playlist to iPod in the Source list.
If you connect and update your iPod, and then add songs to your iTunes library that you want to add to your iPod, choose File > Update iPod.

It's not a problem with iTunes any program that syncs would behave the same.

Any modification of a file (like a volume adjustment or retag) is going to resync the file to the iPod after any changes. However, once you've adjusted the file and downloaded the updated version to the iPod, it won't download at the next sync unless you modify the file again.

See ya

I believe that Eupod comes with an Anti-resync plugin for iTunes.

If you use this plugin (which I believe is included with the last version that was released) there should be no problem. I dont ahve an iPod anymore, so I cannot give you specific instructions, but check out the help file or something.

If its too much of a problem, "BOOST" the volume in Eupod down to "0" before you open iTunes. That way your old songs wont be re-syncronised. Then after any new songs were added just apply your boost again, as you wouldve had to anyway.
