I first wanted to get a iPOD 20 G, but since I realized it would cost me something like 750$ CAN with the warranty, it's a no go. Then I spotted the Karma, but it's fragility + the inability of Rio to give the proper service DO revulse me. So there the Zen extra 20\40 left or the iPOD, with the budget malus...I'm totally puzzled to chose between one or the other...PLEASE, HELP!
I want the player to sound well, to do not have to pay like 200$ of baterries a year because it to hungry and something that can last at least the subway!

Hey Rxinside,

I got a few prices for you, you might be able to beat them by shopping around, but it gives you an idea what things will cost.

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...=&newdeptid=19

= 20 gig apple ipod, 549.99, plus roughly 50.00 for a service plan of 2 years. You will eventually have to replace the battery, but not for at least 2 years. I believe its a 100.00 replacement fee or so (unless you do it yourself.)

= creative zen xtra 30gig. $379.99 nore space, less price, replaceable battery costs about 40 bucks.

bigger and uglier than the ipod, but holds more, and is WAY cheaper. the ser interface isnt as polished as the ipods, but is just fine to use once you get use to it.

In the end, after listening to both, i prefered the zen, but only by a small margin.

I ended up with the zen, mostly due to the cost vs space factor. I got 10 extra gigs, and paid 200 less than the 20 gig ipod, and i dont regret it.

If i had the extra cash, i probably would have gone with th eipod, just due to its smaller size.

PS. bestbuy canada had the 30g zen on for 349.99 last week.

cheers,
Colin
