Okay, I've had my 2g Mini for about a month or something, and I'm having issues with the wheel.
Often when I'm using it, it will become very insensitive and I have to do a 360 to get the marker to move even one step.
Its also quite hard to play brick and other games.
It seems that if I'm not careful and put more than very, very little pressure on the wheel, this will happen. If I barely touch it and use it, it will work fine.

Is the wheel on all ipods like this, or is mine defective?

I think it's a well-reported problem with the 2g mini, or at least read about others having the problem over at Apple's discussion boards. Software problem I guess, and a few months wait for a fix at Apple's speed
