Sry for the n00b question but how do I tell what generation my IPod is? I just had to get one cause my Karma $hit the bed and this is the only thing comparable to exchange it for at BB.

1st and 2nd gen have white buttons forming a circle around the wheel, 3rd gen has the buttons above the wheel, and the 4th gen has a gray wheel with the buttons on the wheel.

PS: Oddly, it doesn't list thickness differences between the different capacity models of a same generation, which is not true. Also, it's missing the recently released iPod Photo and U2 iPod.

The difference between the 1st and 2nd generation was the 1st generation click wheel physically moved. 2nd generation the click wheel was soft touch similar to the current models.
