If you guys really want to find out why I, and many others, believe the ipod's bass is not up to par, do a listening test:
Download the mp3 "I Love You" by Sarah McLachlan. Put it on your iPod. Then listen to the song from both the ipod and your computer or laptop (using the same headphones and volume of course). All you need to listen to is the first few seconds of the song where there is only bass.
Doing a comparison of that song on an ipod, njb3 and my toshiba laptop is what made me return the ipod. The bass from the ipod was the odd man out. Try it for yourself.
By the way, I sold my njb3 to get a Zen...it has the same sound quality but is a lot smaller than the njb3. Oh yeah, Amazon is selling the Zen for $299... $249 after rebate. That is an absolute steal!
