I am looking to make a Ipod dock like the ALO Auricap. I just want to do this myself and help appreciated on what is needed and where to get the parts. I am more interested in what is inside and the wiring. I can handle the wood and the jacks. need info ont he power, the caps wiring schematic.

YOu'll need to get the ipod connector for chassis assembly. I believe that qables sells them. For wiring use 22-26AWG. 18AWG is NOT necessary. Silver plated copper from ebay will do just fine, but if you wish you can use "boutique" wire. Starquad can also be a good option, since it has the necessary 4 conductors and is shielded.

Wiring should be easy. Search for the ipod pinout on google and see which pin is L/R and ground. Solder the grounds directly from the pin to the RCA jack. L/R should go from pin to capacitor and then from the capacitor to the RCA jack.
