So I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I was wondering if I could take the White Clickwheel from a 6th Gen iPod and use it in an iPod Video. I wanna make my iPod look like an Oreo with a black plate and center button. The clickwheel for the iPod Video White version is actually gray, which may or may not look like I woud want. The clickwheels on both devices look the same size.

Think it's worth a try?

I like the idea, but more than likely the type of connectors are different between the different generations

From the pictures they look like the came type of connection, gonna do a bit more digging but I see they have the white plastic part of the clickwheel for sale, might be able to just get that and swap that part out so it is definitely compatible.

Good to know, now to figure out what to google to find how to remove the plastic from the internals of the clickwheels and see if its a viable option

The connectors are the same, the electronics are not. Switching the wheels between a Classic and a Video will not work - this was tried and tested

The plastic part is glued to the flexible circuit, not that difficult to split the two if you do it with patience and care (it's not a hard, frail glue but a sticky and flexible one). I've never tried to put the parts back together, the performance may be easily affected.

My recommendation is to search on ebay or other websites selling parts for iPods, you can buy at a decent price a new clickwheel in the colour you like.
