So I am after some advice....

After a few years of enjoying my iPod Classic with CLAS and ALO Rx MkII through JH16s, the hard drive in the iPod (Gen 7) has started to play up.

I am wondering if anybody out there could give me an idea how the new mid range players (X5, DX200 etc.) compare to the iPod CLAS ALO Rx MkII combo?

Should I lash out for a new hi-res player, or just install the 4 x microSD card mod on the iPod to replace the hard drive?  All my tracks on the iPod are in ALAC format, and my collection of ALAC tracs total about 200 Gigabytes.

How good are the internal amps and DACs of the above DAPs compared to the ALO Rx Mk II and Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo?

Does the extra portability of the X5 or DX200 trump the Player, DAC & Amp Brick.

Is there anybody out there who has listened to all three of these?  Could you give me some idea how they compare or some other option around the same price?

I listen to most music ranging from Classical through to Metal.

Thanks in advance.
