Hey all, What do you think of the dock?

I have a 4G 40GB iPod, and the dock is just kind of a pain in the behind. Also, I think that even with one of those exoflp cases, it looks tacky in the dock. I think I'd rather not use the dock. Your thoughts?

Works great, cheap (approx. $22.00, USD)- Line Out anywhere, charging from AC outlet anywhere... had one for a while... works perfectly; makes the Dock obsolete!...

I didn't use my dock at all for the first 3 months or so, but then when I realized how easy it it so to pop the iPod in and out of the Contour Showcase, I started. Now use it daily. Dock for home, Sik for work.

Just got my Pocket Dock with line out today. What a world of difference in sound.

I could be wrong but IIRC the 4G docks do not work with 3G iPods, because 4Gs are slimmer than the 3Gs.

4Gs work in 3G docks, though.

I like my dock, but I don't transport it around, it stays on my desk and I only use it for adding more music to my iPod. For portable use, I use a pocketdock connector like JHouser posted a pic of.

are the 4G 40GB slimmer than 3G 20GB iPods? becuase if a 4G 40GB is thicker and fits in the new docks, wouldnt the slimmer 3G has no problem docking in it also?

Apple as well as Ipodlounge say you shouldnt charge the Ipod with any cases on as the heat does build up and you might damage the Ipod.

I too use the Contour Showcase and pop the iPod in and out of it to use the dock, but I probably use the dock a little differently than most...

I've since added a full cage to my Rubicon and the dash bar blocks the dock and most of the iPod from the outside. I don't use the iPod offroad, so I don't worry about it popping out, and it's much cleaner than the cel phone mount I used to use.

Since hearing about the Pocket Dock Line-out, I've regretted getting the standard Pocket Dock... Hope I can find one around here.
