Hi all, this is my first post and i am fairly new to the portable audio world. I have a ?? and it may be a stupid one but i was referred to you all as the experts for help. I have a refurb 4gb iPod Mini that was given to me as a gift and I love it, I travel a ton for work and it is great for air travel, but I want to upgrade to either an iPod 60gb w/video or the Creative V series. Are these interchangeable as far as being able to download my music between the two or will i have to run seperate music programs on my pc? Can I use the Creative with my iTunes, I have 20 gb of music and would hate to have to transfer to a different music program...

Thanks for helping out a noob

The way I understand it is that iTunes only works with ipods. So, you would have to have a seperate manager for the Creative unit.

You could use iTunes to manage your library. As long as you were encoding to MP3 (Creative doesn't support AAC, etc.) those files should move over to your Zen unit. iTunes couldn't be used to transfer the files though. You'd have to go to Creative for that.

I use itunes to listen and manage all my music for my vision m and I use the creative software because I like the drag and drop that you can do. You can also just use windows media player to sync the zen and not install the creative software.

(1) No. Apple is iPod and iPod is Apple. Creative can't be used on Apple.

(2) No. All the features in iTunes work exclusively with iPods.

(3) Maybe. It depends on the format. If it is MP3, it is universal and will mount on any name brand player. Check what formats Creative and iPod support. If the digital player support your format, it can be played on that player.

ps:I don't know, but let me try (I hope) to answer your underlying question.

iTunes is a program. The iTune program will run on either an Apple or Microsoft compatible computer. The iTune program will only work with an iPod.

Musical formats (Not the iTune program) can be played on many digital players. Musical files (no matter the format) are books and the iTunes is the librarian. As long as iTunes can read the format, it will catalog your music.

pss: I couldn't help myself. I just bought a refurbished (I don't know, but I'll bet a dollar it is a brand new machine) 60 gig black iPod for $229.00.
