I love my Ipod....but hate the fact that there isnt a user EQ in the OS. Ive been reading up on these alternate OS's, and see that there is a few out there that has a user defined EQ....i have a 5G 60 gig btw...

Anyone use an alt OS for an ipod? Looking for opinions on the one to use...right now looking at Rockbox.....any advise appreciated..

EDIT:

Just read through the manual, it's very simple to install and use. However, the 5G 60GBs has 64mb of RAM in it, so you'll have to try custom builds if you want to fully utilize it. Another way is compiling your own version of Rockbox.

You will have to look at your playing habits to see if this is a benefit or not. If you skip/change songs often, this can actually have a negative effect on your battery life. However, if you listen to lossless and/or rarely skip/change songs, this will extend battery life.

Point is, this isn't always the best idea.
