I just recieved an Ipod 80gb 5.5gen and couldn't wait to rockbox it. Then I checked the rockbox site and found that it is not compatible yet. This has me worried because I really... hate using iTunes and believe that you have to use iTunes to transfer stuff onto the ipod. Not only that, but the fact that you have less audio and video files as well as the hiss that rockbox gets rid of... I'm quite troubled. Does anyone know why the 80gb version for rockbox isn't there yet there is the new 30gb ipod there. Is there an alternative until it is created? I really don't want to use itunes >_<.

Thanks

I prefer click and drag and don't want to load more programs onto my laptop. I'm happy with my custom foobar.

That plus I will need to change all my flac into wav or something else...

The disk hardware is apparently different. It appears that they know what the problem is, and just need to write the code to handle it, so it's just a matter of time. Forum thread here:

Well, foo_pod is what you need.
Read carefully the disclaimer since it's still experimental:

That's not so much a disclaimer about experimental status, it's a page saying the project is dead and unmaintained and has serious bugs and the author doesn't recommend foo_pod, and also it won't work with new versions of Foobar.

This plugin (foo_dop) does work with the current foobar2000:

I used it last fall with my father-in-law's 5g 30GB ipod. At that time, it did not pass gapless info, but that may have changed.

Also, check of the thread at hydrogenaudio:
