I reformatted my HFS+ (Mac) iPod to FAT32 and installed Rockbox today. I like its ability to drag and drop files onto the iPod without using iTunes, but the experience is seriously marred by its astounding instability. It freezes all the time. When I go into the font menu, the theme menu, the file browser, sometimes in the middle of songs ... is this normal? I don't mean once every couple of hours, I mean every few minutes. It's crashed at least 30 times today.

I had the 60GB/80GB version installed as mine is 60GB, but I read that the 60 and 80GB models have 64MB of RAM wheares the 30GB version has 32MB so I thought for whatever reason that installing the "lighter" version of the 30GB model would aid stability. Nope.

I'm running 3.4 which is supposedly the latest stable build. Any ideas, people?

Thanks

Thanks for the responses everyone. stingx, did you use the automated installer in Windows? Have you got any themes installed or fonts etc?

I did the release before last manually. I used the auto installer for 3.4 on my wife's 30GB and on my 60GB 5G. Neither one has any issues. I also installed some extra themes and fonts as well on mine.

Well that's about the fifth time I've tried to reinstall it... no joy

I've had to resort to using SharePod and the foo_dop plugin in Foobar to avoid iTunes instead. Better than before, but still no FLAC
