I have an iPhone 8 plus and use a Dragonfly Red DAC. My headphones are Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro 80 ohms. Everything sounds great but to get adequate volume, I need to have the iPhone's volume indicator at 2/3 or higher. At 50%, the sound is way too low and this was the case with my Audio Technica ath M50x headphones as well. I have read published reviews that indicated that they were getting loud volumes at 40% to 50% on iPhones, with the Dragonfly Red. I can definitely get to loud volume but need to push iPhone volume to 3/4 or a bit more. Using the Apple Dongle, there is no great discernible volume difference, when switching to the Dragonfly. I'd appreciate some feedback maybe from anyone using the Dragonfly Red with IPhones. As it is, I almost feel that the Dragonfly amplifier is not putting out the correct gain. Thanks...
