I've seen this mentioned before but inside other threads and I thought the issue deserved standalone consideration.
The X3 can be used as DAC+amp for iPhones: simply(*) connect the two, say, with the standard X3 USB cable and Apple's "Lightning - USB camera adapter".
(*) The only problem is that it's not that simple in practice because the X3 connection is refused by the iPhone for requiring too much power. The standard work-around is to insert a powered USB hub in between the two but that defeats most use cases I would imagine, i.e., mobility.
Can this somehow be fixed in the X3 firmware, please? The simplest might be to have an option in the device settings to not charge when a data connection is available or to slow-charge but several other approaches appear to be possible, too.
In terms of incentives, let me mention that I had my eyes on the X3 for a while but I didn't pull the trigger until it gained the ability to work as a DAC+amp for computers.
