Hi everybody,
as you know the cirrus/wolfson DACs in our mobile phones could manage 24bit/96khz flows as well.
Unluckily it seems that the iOS is going to limit this feature handling a unique resolution/freq combination to feed the DAC.
Here my points:
- is it true? (ie.: if I put in my iPhone 24/48 files, iOS is going to down-sample it to 16/44.1 before sending the data flow to the cirrus dac)
- can anyone confirm that the "right combination" for the iphone 4s is 16/44.1?
If everything is confirmed, it would makes no sense to have 24/48 or 16/48 in our iphones... it could be even worse (due to the realtime down-sampling applied by the iOS).
Thanks in advance for any feedback and sorry for my poor english.
ps.: of course using the 3rd party players (ie.: golden ear) does not fix the situation.
