Sorry if this is a redundant thread...

I have interest in acquiring an LOD that works with my iPhone 3G. I've tried about 5 or 6 LODs I already have and none work.

I have read in some threads about the iPhone having to be set into Airplane mode when using an LOD.. Is this necessary? Are there LODs available that do not require Airplane mode?

Please advise me on any relevant options and thanks in advance.

Which LOD are you using for the iphone mrdeadfolx? Is it one of the ones in your sig?

So far the only way that I can get line out audio to work is if I first connect my iJet remote which I used with my iPod Video 5.5. The iJet has a dock pass-through which works with my LODs and I can hear audio and a message pops up to ask me about airplane mode (the remote functionality does not work however).

I don't think I hear any interference ~ but stil wouldn't mind not having to plug another accessory between the iphone and dock.

I've heard that to make an iPhone LOD work, you must first remove pins 1 and 11 and have the LOD plugged in prior to powering on the iPhone. Ive always had it plugged in prior to powering it on (since the day i got it), however all the pins (to my knowledge) are still intact. I bought my ALO LOD used from a fellow head-fier, and have PM'ed him to ask if he owned an iPhone and was using an iPhone modified LOD, because the modded LOD's still work with regular iPods, but have yet to get a response.

i have a LOD that works with older iphones. by connecting one of the ground pins to pin 11, it works with the older iphones.
should it work with the 3g iphones also? no one around me has a 3g iphone and there is no way to check.

iPhones require pin 1 and 11 to be connected in the dock, otherwise they are identical to iPods. To get the iPhone to detect the dock the phone needs to be turned of and then on again. It does not need to be in airplane mode to be used but with most cables and amps not having it in airplane mode means you get killed with rf induced noise.

as far as i know, the 11 pin can be connected to any ground pins, not just pin 1. i connected the pin 11 to 15 because 15 was the closest to 11.
when i tested it on my friend's older iphone (not sure if it was 1g or 2g), it worked fine without rebooting the ihpone.

OK. I have not actually tried this myself but the rebooting bit was what Ken from ALO stated

Indeed pin 11 and 1 need to be interconnected. At least that is how apple does it themself so we prefer to do the same for maybe future compatibility. However just grounding pin11 should work as well.

Rebooting the iPhone is not neccesarry for our Qables iPhone LOD's.

When plugged in, the iPhone just reports an accessory connected and asks if you want to turn on airplane mode.

Either answer YES/NO activates the dock line out signal and discards the warning.

Unplug the LOD and the iPhone goes back to normal automitically. I have confirmed this myself on iPhones 1G, 2G and 3G.

As Hans has stated, the Qables iPhone 3G LOD works perfectly.

I usually switch to Airplane mode to avoid interferrence on the amp, but it's not necessary all the time, and you don't need to reboot.

Thanks for all the infos...
So, is Qables iPhone 3G LOD the only option for not having to reboot or do airplane mode?

Any DIYers here able to connect these pins in their products?
I would want on as low profile as possible.

Whether you have to do airplane mode does not only depends on the cable but also on how sensetive to interference your amps is. The SuperMini I tried could not sit within 10 inches of the iPhone (or any other phone I have had) without picking up noise.
