I recently picked up an iPhone 2G off of a friend, and it's currently my only portable DAP (I really want to consolidate my DAP and phone into one, hence the iPhone).
I'm having some problems running the UM3X off of it though. When no music is playing, there seems to be a constant hiss and a sound reminiscent of a fan. This sound also seems to get a bit louder when the iPhone's CPU is under heavy stress. When the iPhone is transitioning to sleep mode, the sound -- which is primarily always right in front of me when music is playing -- seems to pan from front to back, before fading and disappearing entirely when the iPhone goes to sleep.
However, I've read that some people don't hear any hiss at all running the JH13s out of the iPhone 3G. If I were to upgrade from the 2G to the 3G, should I expect this background noise to disappear with the UM3X? Or do I need to upgrade to the 3GS? Can someone please confirm?
Thanks!
