Here is an interesting story on the inventor of the Walkman--it suggests that this was responsible for the earphone revolution.

interesting story kinda sucks how long it took to get sony to pay up, but would be interesting to know is if sony outright stole the idea or just independently came up with the idea.

anyway if you don't want to reg with nytimes.com I'd suggest using bugmenot.com
