the Eros II just take the Quantum to another level ...Can confirmed, Eros cable is legit on it. I think I like Ares because I'm a warm addict but Eros... Adds to the special sauce with the SuperStage module.
Fun combothe Eros II just take the Quantum to another level ...
Thank you! They still have the first batch with the bonus modules available at bloom audio.
Wow, your take on the Quantum has me seriously curious—it sounds like FF really nailed something unique here. That bit about the “gooey hole” in the mid-bass being filled without bloat is such a great way to put it. Do you think that clarity comes more from the tuning itself or maybe the planar driver tech they’re using? The burn-in result is interesting! I saw in the FF forum they were “dehumidifying” the IEMs. Is the membrane a biologic substance? Or some other physics thing? Fascinating!
No matter, they are amazing! I compared briefly to my Monarch m3 which is no slouch on bass. Felt like a gooey hole of missing mid bass tones had gone away. Somehow the Quantum has managed to fill that space without bloat. Maybe it is the apparent whole spectrum precision, allowing for more persistence of transients. Like real life!
I had been thinking of the 64Audio Solo. But it didn’t quite seem worth the price. Comparing the frequency response curves side by side both using similar sized planars, there is no comparison. Significant differences to the good in nearly every dimension for FF. That’s why I was a little leery on the Soli since it seemed reportedly relatively weak at high end and bass, though admittedly I have never auditioned it (Idaho is an audio desert). The strengths of FF shine through. I really do believe they spent so much time “sciencing” these IEMs. They are lovely!
Thanks; it's hard to say. IDK if they have a proprietary planar driver. They might, as I read they have a "drying" period. But Singapore is a very humid location!Wow, your take on the Quantum has me seriously curious—it sounds like FF really nailed something unique here. I understand why they don't, but I wish they would open up about these kinds of nerdy details. This is the stuff I live for, I want to know. They are too expensive to crack open willy nilly. I want to get a collection together to send hi-fri a set to tear apart for a YT video. He has been getting back into it recently. Thanks; it's hard to say. That said, I suspect the tech lies in its unusual shape. It really is a torpedo shape, and as I just looked at it, I infer the bass chamber to be significant. But then again, it must see all frequencies. They mentioned 2 years of development, with the input of many scientists and other collaborations. So, I think they were willing to iterate this until it worked. Other manufacturers are more incremental, perhaps less scientific, and more gut feeling. The best headphone and IEM manufacturers have strong musical AND science design backgrounds.
I also have the Scarlet, and that one is still the true "Bass Cannon." But that tech seems portable enough to apply to other designs. I now reserve the Scarlet for when I want to make my head vibrate!!
I do think more transparency would be a good idea in terms of marketing, given it otherwise just comes off as a marked up planar thats otherwise similar to the host of chinese planars using same size drivers, with tunings relatively similar - but cost a fraction.I understand why they don't, but I wish they would open up about these kinds of nerdy details. Well…if you consider that 40% of the price is on the cable they’re not that marked up anyway…I think they are a fair price and nothing like the cheaper alternatives I’ve tried over the past year…in fact for me was a huge gamble, because I never liked planar IEMs before due to the thinness of their sound. It’s not the case here.I do think more transparency would be a good idea in terms of marketing, given it otherwise just comes off as a marked up planar thats otherwise similar to the host of chinese planars using same size drivers, with tunings relatively similar - but cost a fraction.
At the end of the day the tuning is hopefully notably improved enough to warrant the price, but thats impossible for those without the chance to listen before purchase to judge - making it a tough sell.
They're functionally nearly identical to the 7hz Timeless 2 (200$), both in terms of sound/tuning, driver and tuning module function. But hey, so long as you enjoy them, that's what matters.Well…if you consider that 40% of the price is on the cable they’re not that marked up anyway…I think they are a fair price and nothing like the cheaper alternatives I’ve tried over the past year…in fact for me was a huge gamble, because I never liked planar IEMs before due to the thinness of their sound. I never tried the Timeless 2, I tried the Timeless 1 and honestly these are way better. Would be nice to have an option that didn't require supporting Effect Audio, since as you said that might also bring the price to something more reasonable.
