The Miracle Beginning

Original ONIX XM10 was included in the High-End Miracle setup, acting as the streaming platform for the Hi-Fi stack, while being a decently sounding portable player on its own. With the new ONIX Waltz XM10 ltd, we are taking the same concept of a portable player, but upgrading it into a fully capable Hi-Fi device, one that can rival any dedicated portable Hi-Res players on the market.

ONIX Waltz stays fully compatible with the ONIX Miracle and can serve as its digital transport and streaming center.

Pushing Design Limits of Hi-Fi Players

Optimized for true portability, ONIX Waltz was thinned down to just 11.5mm, putting it closer to standard smartphones and avoiding the unpractical dimensions of bulky Hi-Fi Players. At the same time, its build was further enhanced by utilizing stainless steel construction, for impressively robust and dense feeling in hand. Combined with an electroplating finish for a deep dark and highly polished look.

Serious Audio Performance

The Audio section of ONIX Waltz takes inspiration from ONIX Mystic XP1, creating a naturally sounding player based around AKM’s flagship DAC system, AK4499EX DAC and AK4191 ΔΣ modulator. Supported by the in-house developed “Brighton” I/V conversion circuit and FPGA technology, alongside KDS Crystal Oscillators and dedicated AD8397 headphone amplifier.

While ONIX Waltz features only a 3.5mm socket, Balanced output can be achieved with the provided 5-pin 3.5mm to 4.4mm Balanced adapter.

Upgraded Android Performance

Coming with the newly upgraded system to Android 13, assuring many years of future updates and wide app compatibility. With a fully open Android system, made for easy installation of a range of Music Playback and Streaming apps, with bit-perfect output ensured by our deeply customized Android Sound Platform.

Very stylish device, I like it...

The output power at 3.5mm and 4.4mm seems lower than the M5 Ultra. Is this due to the battery or thermal?

I think the next model should come with higher capacity battery with the same size as silicon carbon battery. There should also be Aptx Lossless support. It's okay if there's no internal storage.

AK4499EX It's a very good chip. I hope those who buy it will use it in good times. I’m glad to see the ONIX XM10 available on the market.

Does the ltd at the end indicate that it is a limited edition?

I think this was totally unncessary...puting a notch with logo :) Mobile phones do it because they must have a camera somewhere but here I don't see the purpose.

My guess is they got a good bulk discount on the screens.

Edit: I'm sure Shanling had a good reason. I bet they got a much better screen for less money. The market for notch less screens probably isn't stellar.

If it has a similar sound to the XM5, it'll be a buy from me.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I love the concept here... go as thin as possible when everyone else is going thick! Providing 3.5mm PO only will likely get criticism, but I understand the design decision to get the unit as thin as possible, and the inclusion of a balanced adapter is a serviceable solution! I am a big fan of the non-android XM5 so I will be watching this one!

Same... I think a thin, big display, and portable player has its place. I have dealt with the 3.5 to 4.4 adapter with the Shanling M0 and it's a minor inconvenience at most. Unlike the M0, the adapter is included. Smart move.

I'm adding this player to my must try list for CanJam NYC.

The body looks very nice! But the logo on the screen notch is jarring and no dial. Hate buttons for volume changes.

Sorry gotta ask, does this support Widevine for streaming video apps. It is now necessary for me on a DAP. Explaining why something that costs as much as a high end phone can't stream video apps to my friends and family that grab my dap when I'm on the phone because they want to use my nice iems or headphones is getting old. The ,"it cost how much and I can't watch Netflix on it," and me having to say, "well it's an audio player for audio", and them replying, "Video has audio in it to" is also getting old. Able to watch in bed while my phone is charging, happens to me all the time. Watching live concerts on Netflix would be nice as well.

Widevine is free, so maybe the cost of developing it is difficult? I'm hoping with native default support for bit perfect in Android 14 will make it less costly to develope for Widevine? I really don't know.
