Just a random shot in the dark but if you are using proxy server, did you set brouser to skip proxy for router address(i.e. 198.162.1.1)? Or how about internet security software setting, if you are using one?

not using a proxy server......norton doesn't seem to be doing anything....because it is still activated when i'm doing the "naked connection" and everything's working......i can't find any router settings in the menu that might be suspicious....in the "advanced settings" section, there are no filters set, and these are the settings at the bottom:

SPI: Disabled
Block WAN Request: Enabled
Multicast Pass Through: Enabled
IPSec Pass Through: Enabled
PPTP Pass Through: Enabled
Remote Management: Disabled
Remote Upgrade: Disabled
MTU: Disabled Size: 0

i'll check linksys for a firmware upgrade......thanks guys!
