The STAX SR-404 is not listed, which is, BY FAR, the best headphone I have heard to date and that list includes quite a few of those in the poll. My first temptation was to vote for my Sony CD3K's but, considering the fact that they are now discontinued, a tad bulky/heavy, and require a headband mod (at least for my noggin'), I decided to vote for the Senn HD-650's as #1.

Ever heard of electrostatic phones? Guess not. There isn't one listed

The HE90/HEV90 combo is the best sound reproduction I've ever heard, out of headphone or speaker. If money were no object, I would own those without hesitation. But, in lieu of limited finances, I'll stick with the 2d best - my SR-404. Out of all dynamic headphones that I've heard, my choice would probably be the Qualia 010.

Of those that i've heard, i'd hold the K1000 above the RS1, assuming both have proper amplification, however, the AKGs are a bit further from the set budget than the RS1s, so i'd fall back on the Grados. Both have incredible reproduction, but there's something about that enveloping K1000 magic that just does it for me.
