You probably mean that it has lots of voltage on the XLR outputs. I'm not surprized given the multistage amplification.

I find funny that the pictures make it look huge but it's not really.

Found datasheet for TUSB3200. It looks like in async mode the TUSB chip I2S output is slaved to the external master clock. So async operation is possible with the clock on board driving the ASRC and the codec.

But this is not very likely, because there are only 1832 bytes worth of buffer space on the 3200.
