I agree, why can't they put SP support in. I'd prefer the ability to record in higher quality via NetMD. I have a home deck and can record in SP, but I have to do it in real time.

Looking forward to the AM/FM/Weather band tuner. I always wanted a radio with my MD, but you either had to buy a used one, or import one. It will be nice to be able to buy a new one in North America

Bwah, it looks sexy and all.. But I hate their stupid remote. You
can't see crap with it. I liked the idea of puting a bigger LCD *on*
the player and then adding a remote with the D-CJ01. Why can't
Sony just improve instead of going more mini and mini and
finally end up with a kleenex u put a cd in and it plays music? Who
the hell wants a kleenex cd player? And look at that remote?
What the hell is that? A ******** pencil?

D-NE710 looks way better and probably less likely to break. Looks
tougher and the skeleton looks pretty much like the D-CJ01 when
you think about it..

But then again no stupid remote. But that
could be a great thing, if the remote is to be another stupid
pencil

I'm going to be in the market for a CD/MP3 player here pretty soon. I wish there were more specs available about the NE-710, that's probably the one I'd get. I'm not sure if I trust iRiver, but many folks here have nothing but good things to say about them.

I wonder how the NE-710 will compare to the D-CJ01. The price of the NE-710 is going to be about half as cheap as the D-CJ01, so that makes me wonder what corners they had to cut to be able to offer it at that price. It might just turn out that the CJ01 is the better of the two. I know this is only speculation though and you can't base quality solely on price. I guess time will tell. I just wish there was more information available.

I wonder if the 710 will fix the issues that Derek "pengin" complains of:

Edit, I just saw a thread about the SlimX 500, that might be worth waiting for and it might change my perceptions of iRiver.

Hmm.. If you want to stay safe, just wait 'till I buy the N-E710 in May.
I'm going to make a little review on it

As for the new players being 'suspiciously' cheap.. I also find it a bit
weird that Sony puts outs some new models (including a follower to
the D-CJ01 (apparently D-NE710..)) and lists prices at $120 (D-CJ01
is currently $129 I think).

I only hope they fixed FFWD for MP3 playback and maybe added some
firmware upgrades..

Oh and the iMP-550 should only be coming out in November 2003
so I hope you're really patient

The 550 will probably be too expensive anyway. I've been looking into that IMP-350 and it looks like the best deal out there. It got nothing but good reviews (except one person based on iRiver CS) on epinions.com. The battery life could be better, but I think the sound quality and features more than make up for it.

I'm thinking about buying the NW-MS70D Network Walkman. How would I get the Japanese software to work on the US Windows system? Or are there 3rd party software we'd use?
