I've got a pair of Infinity RS5 floor standing speakers that were bought new in the 90's. Probably best for home theatre, however I was interested in listening to music with them. The problem is I don't have good amplification for them. I was curious as to the reputation behind these speakers, because if they are good, I will spend some money on getting an amplifier. Or, should I spend the money on a new pair of speakers and amp instead?

I don't know how good the RS5s are. But whether or not you should by new speakers really depends upon your total budget for speakers and amp.

Also, I don't know why you would say that the speakers are best for home theater as if they might not be for music. Good speakers are good speakers, whether for music or home theater.
