My roommate has a set of Infinity Acoustic Reference 1.5 speakers. He's looking for a good power solution. Right now he's got a Kenwood early 90's power amp, but no preamp. He's using his Audigy 2 and windows volume control for the volume.... Yah, I'm teaching him some audiophile ways.
He'd really like to get some tubes but I'm not sure what kind of power he'd really need for these things. We hooked up my old Marantz 1060B, rated 30 watts per channel, and it powered them somewhat well but with some clipping on heavy passages at just over moderate volumes.
Any of you old fogies remember these speakers and any really good amp combinations? Something readily available would be of great help
