Hi,

I would really appreciate your help on ear tip definitions and some good headphones for sport.  I've struggled with IE headphones that use an Ear canal tip, i tested using foam, sponge and rubber tips with no luck.

Either the tip doesn't go deep enough into the ear so i don't hear base, or the tip presses against my ear drum and all i can hear is my feet pounding the ground when I run - am i doing something wrong ro do i just have the wrong ears for this style.

So I prefer the other type of ear bud tip, the one that doesn't compress then expand in your ear canal.  What is the definition of this tip or style? A typical example would be these JVC http://www.jvc.co.uk/product.php?id=HA-EB75-A-E&catid=100154

Choices become more limited in choice when the later style is required, as most design seem to use the ear canal variety.

I would really like to try the Bose SoundSport headphones, but after reading reviews have decided not too, problems with the remote/mic and quality. so they are out.  I'm now tempted buy the Monster iSport intensity.

Would you mind giving me some recommendations for a mid level (£100) sport design that are not ear canal (tips that press into the ear canal).

  1. Definition of non-ear canal tip
  2. Monster iSport intensity opinion
  3. Bose SoundSport opinion
  4. other sport headphone recommendations

Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Andy

There's not an "official" definition - they are sometimes called "canalphones" or "outer earphones" or just "ear buds with clips". Have you tried ones that do insert in your inner ear, but also wrap around your ear, like these:

I'm not a runner (I'm a "sitter") so I'm afraid I really don't have any practical advice.

Thanks for the reply Billy,

I have tried the over-ear with ear canal style headphones:  http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/walkman/nwz-w273-nwz-w274s

I have these and when running the bone conduction when running makes it in-audible.

i'm going to find a decent earbud head phone , then try and fit the Bose Eartips
