Improving sound quality playing from phone in car

My car doesn't have iDrive, which means there is no USB to connect to.
Even though phone calls can be attended & controlled with steering controls thr blue tooth , i cant play music thr blue tooth.
 
I am happy with the sound from car's CD player.  But  playing from phone  through auxiliary port sucks.
 
I am thinking i can connect to phone output to a USB powered dac , and DAC's output to car's auxilary port.
 
I need suggestions on which DAC to buy ,  if this is possible.?  Other option is to use a battery powered DAC.
 
I am considering  hifimeDIY Sabre DAC. Any others?

Anyway it looks like putting a USB DAC may not help..

That is probably correct. I'd guess that the bad quality comes from the aux port and not your phone, so a DAC won't improve anything.
