Hi guys,

I new here so please be gentle...lol

I am looking to improve my PC audio and I have been looking at the Asus Xonar U7 and the Asus Phoebus.  I love the Dolby home theatre V4 and its one of the reasons I am looking to one of these cards.

The question is I currently have a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-Z77X-D3H) which produces 108db I am not entirely sure about the rest of the specs so is there going to be a notable difference between the U7's 114db and the phoebus 118db.

Is there really any point getting one of these cards bearing in mind I will be using them mostly for my collection of FLAC music and maybe some gaming with headphones.

What headphones are you using?

The Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z is only $80.
Should be better then your VIA VT2021 on-board audio.
