I have always thought of LOD and speaker wires that cost more than $25 snake oil. I put an order in at monoprice and thought I would pick up some 12AWG CL2 Speaker Cable. It was $14.82 for 50ft. I got it in today and swapped it out with the stock Audioengine A5's cable. My A5's are so much louder with this thicker cable. I used to listen to them with the knob at about 10 o'clock, now its at about 8 o'clock. They seem less distorted at higher volumes also.

It seems like the A5's likes this larger pipeline. Its was sort of hard getting the cable to fit thought. A really good $15 improvement! (actually $3 since I only used 5 ft)

I also picked up their Premium 3.5 to RCA and this think is well worth the $1.94. I don't think you can make them cheaper and as good quality for under $2

The A5's probably used a significantly thinner cable than 12AWG.
Resistance is inversely proportional to cross sectional area.
