I received my AR5000 a few hours ago - still breaking in but I like them a lot; too early for real sound assessment but surprisingly good (dynamics, stage, imaging) on my Burson soloist 3xGT and Topping amps ... much better than expected from this price range. Built and comfort is very good to excellent but I swapped the cable to an aftermarket 4.4mm one.

Positioning on the head is important indeed - probably more (for the mids) than for my other angled driver headphones like HD800s, Beyer T5p or the (open) Sony MDR-MA900 (if someone knows these).
Some quick measurements on my miniDSP EARS (HPN compensated) show quite good driver matching and some variation

with different positions of the cups w.r.t. to the "ears".
The averaged ones shown below are red for ears at the front of the pads and blue = ears in middle
aune_ar5000_earAtFront_red--vs--stock_blue-avg-wide.jpg

the difference actually sounds more significant than visible in these measurements. The front position sounds more natural with better reproduction of the mids.
Really impressive performance for such an affordable headphone.

what do you mean by ear position? like with different placement of the ear inside the cup?

Here is my EQ for these using measurements from multiple sources and a bit of personal taste thrown in. they sound incredible this way with some great bass with no bleed into the mids. plenty of slam. the sub bass still isnt as good as my similarly EQ'd hifiman XS but its more natural in the highs with similar resolution and a much better mid bass and mids. Also the sound stage sounds more natural where the open hifimans are a bit too diffuse sounding sometimes, center image is better as well. was able to plug them into a crap laptop for work and it didnt even sweat. cant say that about almost any of my planar or otherwise headphones.

Yes. Moving the cups towards the back of your head to have the ears closer to the front (i.e. closer to the drivers) to get a better midrange response. But it is not an extreme shift necessary - just a few mm.

cant wait to receive mine, fyi, @AuneAudio also selling the BAL 4.4 upgrade cable version
So it is here, lightweight and bit piercing upper mid and highs out of the box with Mojo2 (all PEQ off)
Will let it burn first, @AuneAudio do you suggest burn in? How long?
