In a neighbouring thread about Crowded House I, in stream-of-conciousness mode, thought/drifted to New Zealand>Australia>Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. A big fan of Nick for many years I realized once again I had never heard his previous band 'The Birthday Party'. Which in turn had me wonder...

What bands or artists of some importance have you not heard either properly or at all?

The Beach Boys
John Coltrane
Van Morrison
MC5
Nick Drake (markl is gonna have my head!)
Television
New York Dolls
Kraftwork
Husker Du

Ok, your turn.
CONFESS!

Funny you should bring this up at this time.
I just ordered a Duke Elllington box set so I can listen to Duke Ellington properly, and probably for the first time.
More big band I should hear;
Count Bassie
Tommy Doresy

I have yet to give Jazz a good chance.
I got a various artists jazz cd that I liked, but never made a move past that.

Blues,
Okay I have a great old blues 2 disc set called "The Chess Blues-Rock Songbook" . Then I recently picked up a John Lee Hooker CD titled Face to Face. But, other than these I haven't really given Blues much of a chance.

Important artists I haven't heard properly
Velvet Underground
The Kinks (orderd a CD today)
Miles Davis
The Clash (I managed to buy their worst album once)
Black Sabbath (don't tell DarkAngel I have never heard Black Sabbath
wink.gif
)
John Coltrane
Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra,
Nick Drake
Buck Owens

and probably a bunch more that I can't think of.
