This question is for the 4th gen iPod Photo 60 GB or equivalent.
Comparing the line out volume via apple minidoc or a simple line out connector on the stock iPod 4th gen going straight into IEMs (I've got Shure E-500)--does the line out of the iMod headphone out sound louder/quieter/or the same as the stock line out volume? Both of these volumes would be the with no amp and going straight into the IEMs.
The reason I ask if that I have found that the line out volume of the iPod line out is slightly higher than my desired listening level. What's cool about that is that then I can use a simple volume attenuator (to cut down the volume to the desired level). This makes for a simplier set up for exercising--when maximun sound quality is not so important. For other, "stationary" times I would use the iMod with an amp for better sound quality.
