Question for you folks...
I'm currently using a squeezebox connected to a Grace 901 headphone amp for night-time listening. I've ripped my collection and am storing it as mostly 16/44.1 flac. Everything works nicely.
However, I'm starting to download new material from Linn or HDTracks in either 24/88.1 or 24/96 and I've love to be able to play them without having squeezebox/squeezecenter downsample them. Ideally a Transporter would solve the problem but I don't want to drop $1500-2000k on one at the moment.
I do have Presonus Firebox that supports 24/96 but I'm wondering what the best way of setting up with my iMac. From what I gather my only option is to go into Audio MIDI Setup and configure the Firebox to be 24/96 to accommodate for the high-res material. Does this mean that regular 16/44.1 material will be upsampled and sent out to the dac in the Grace at 24/96? I'd prefer it if the computer sent out the material AS-IS. Ie, one track is 16/44.1, next track is say 24/96 and so on. Is this possible?
