Is the im616 just the im716 in black?

no, im616 is more like/based on the er6i, while im716 is more like the er-4 series

Do the im716 come in black? If so, where can I buy? All the great deals for them I see are for the white version, which I despise.

Sorry, but they only come in white. You could paint them black or get a pair of er4 if you want black though.

Argh, wanted to get the im716 as opposed to the er4 to save money. Oh well.

I have both 616 and 716, and the 616s sound pretty sweet. so if you want black, I'd go for it. They seem to need an amp less than the 716s, too. And with the 716s, you have that annoying pod (and the white color). Having said that, I am going to send my 716s away for a podectomy, since I am selling the 616s to a friend. In both cases, I paid $40 (616) and $50 (716), so the price we very right.

^^ Really looking for as close to as an ER4 sound as I can get. So it was either ER4 based im716 or the actual ER4, looks like I'm stuck with the latter.
